Transporting a new generator onto Penguin Island is yet another successful out-of-the-box transport project. This was a great example of Macknsons in their element, utilising their extensive range of sensitive freight handling equipment to manoeuvre the heavy generators on and off the Island.
The team used a crane barge to transport and lift the generators on and off Penguin Island Jetty. Afterwards, they manoeuvred the new generator 200m along the walkway to the shed using pallet jacks. The team laid down structure boards and staggered in sections to protect the Island’s timber decking during transporting. The team completed the installation, and the old generator was loaded back onto the barge and taken back to the mainland for recycling.
Macknsons’ team successfully managed the project’s risk and compliance for people, equipment and the environment. With careful planning, the assets were swapped over with no unforeseen issues.
